I have searched the board to find a surefire procedure to dump Netscape 7.0 and start using SeaMonkey, while keeping all of my old stuff- email, bookmarks, etc. First, I have to restore my wife's mail profile as outlined here. I only have one .slt folder for that profile and no backup as of yet. The inbox file and sent file is intact so I think I have a pretty good shot at fixing it. After I do this, I want out of this antiquated program and into SeaMonkey. Any help on how to do this in an organized manner would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Elmer H.

    Welcome to the Forum, zenith!

    Elmer,

It's always a good idea to backup the Profiles folder before doing any kind of editing to the program, and in fact it should be done frequently in order to ensure no loss of personal data. This is what I suggest, after your backup:

    Uninstall Netscape 7.0 using Add/Remove
Delete the Programs folder located here:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape
    Reboot the PC

Install SeaMonkey, and it will automatically pick up your Netscape Profile. No moving, copying, etc., necessary.

Let us know if you have further questions.

It should not be necessary. Has she been using a separate profile? My wife and I use the same profile, but different accounts.
