    Hi all,

I'm doing some maintenance on a friends computer and he has W XP PRO. I noticed that he has FAT32 and I would like to know if converting to NTFS is safe?

I know I need to goto a command prompt and type in: "convert C: /fs:ntfs ".

However, when I'm at the command window, it says: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator> ".

Can\should I do it from there, or just from a "C:\" prompt? And, how do I get there?

    Thanks

You can do it from there, it makes no difference.

It's a safe procedure so long as the power doesn't fail in the midst of the operation. Even so, always back up critical data to separate media.
