We are trying to download a video from DVD to a computer file. We have a dvd burner and cd burner. Windows 2000 Professional and power DVD. Not sure if we can, but need help if we can.

    stargazer3402 - Welcome to the Board :)

I have moved your thread from the W2k forum to Other Software as this is not a specific Windows question.

I must start by pointing out that commercial DVD's are generally copy protected so that it is not possible to copy them, but if you have a DVD which is either 'homemade' or not protected then it is very straightforward to copy to the hard drive. The DVD data is already a 'computer file' as you put it - basically a data file.

Place the DVD in your DVD drive - hold down the Shift key to stop it autorunning - if it does just close the video.

Go to Windows Explorer and open the DVD drive - you will see the video files.

Copy them to your hard drive.

Power DVD has an option to 'Open DVD file on hard drive' and will then play the DVD.

Is this what you wanted to know?
