I am using WindowsNT4 on our network. I use policy editor for a custom desktop and start menu for specific users. When a restricted user logs on to a Windows 2000 system, the restrictions show in their user folder, but do not apply. In other words, the desktop icons show up and the start menu shows all programs. I cannot change the network settings because other systems using 95 and 98 must be controlled too. When I hide the desktop on the Windows2000 system, it applies to all users. How do I hide the desktop and customize the start menu for restricted users in this situation? Any suggestions?

Upgrade your PDC to Win2k, and apply GPO to your Win2k systems. Other wise you are stuck using local security policies on your Win2k systems which will effect all users of the system.
