    Dear all,

    When I start the laptop, it gives a blue screen then restart;
    I have 2 partitions: C and D.
    I don't mind formatting it but I need to recover data on the desktop.

    I tried Hiren's boot CD and booted with minxp: it sees C and D: can't explore C (access denied) but can explore D.

    I thought it could't explore C for its password; deleted the password through an application on the boot CD; still, in vain.

    I tried winternals and few other apps, it shows my data on the desktop but cannot recognize any flash memory or external HD in order to copy those data onto.

    Pls advise for any way / application that allow me to recover data from the desktop whether through copying it to the D partition or any other possibilities that allow me to run windows XP.

    Thanx

    Pull the drive and connect it to another computer - you will need an adaptor. If the drive is recognised you have a good chance of pulling off the data - which clearly is not backed up :(
