I just noticed this. I open My Comp and try to open a drive. I get a search screen. I close the search screen. I right click the drive and the context menu first listing is 'Search'. I want to sort the listing so that 'Open' is first.

Windows Explorer context menu starts with 'Expand'.

I don't think this was happening when I first installed XP.

That fixed it right up, Jim. Thanks.

I never would have thought it would be folder rather than context menu or the like.

Maybe something I installed and got rid of put it there. So nice of them to help....

Considering the prevalence and incidence of the problem, you sure aren't the only one. If you ever do happen to figure out what does it, please let us know.

Glad it was that simple :D .

    Hi
As I stated in my e-mail to Abraxas I had this problem also. His solution corrected my problem for which I have been trying to find a solution for over a year. I know what caused my problem. I installed xteq x-setup a tweaking program. I used it to place the "run" command in the right click menu. The only problem was it placed it at the top of the list which cause it to be the item that is applied when you left click. His solution corrected the problem.
    Thanks again Abraxas.

    Hi
Its me again . I noticed I had one mistake in my reply. It was the command window and not the run.

Not wanting to cause myself problems, I didn't try it, but....

If I read that X-Setup script correctly, doesn't removing the check mark in the "Command Prompt Here" box and clicking Apply remove the item from the context menu? It appears the script deltes the registry entries if the input is blank.
