This problem is quite annoying, as I downloaded the iso to keep using Vista!

Well, can't read your mind, so you'll have to post much more detailed info if you want any chance of a comment/suggestion...

Sorry, was doing far too much at once when I posted.

It's my main machine, and I installed 8CP on a different hard drive to my Vista drive. However, it has both wiped out Vista's boot manager, and does not list Vista in its own. How can I make it show Vista in its own boot manager?

Equally, why does my DVD drive only work when the install disc I burnt is inserted in the drive and I try to boot from the DVD drive first (but don't actually load this disk)?

I don't think this applies here Doc, as:

1st, I do hope you have a full backup (image) of your original drive.

If yes, I'd try some Bcdboot.exe voodoo to see if I could add vista (bcdboot.exe c:\Windows) assuming Vista is on the "C" drive when you are booted into Win8CP (which it probably isn't).

    But your other comment

Looks like you got more problems.

If I were you I restore Vista, and either:
    1. Forget about Windows 8 CP
    2. Install Windows 8 in a virtual environment (I'd recommend Oracle VM VirtualBox)

That sounds like what I'll probably do, when we find our Vista DVD, as 8CP doesn't like my wireless adaptor and crashes whenever I try to connect to the internet.

I've reformatted both the partition with Windows 8 and Vista Home Premium on, and reinstalled Vista.
