    Hi there,

My mum has restarted her PC from the botton on the case rather than start menu and then this constant rebooting has happend. The rebooting happens exactly one step before typing the password.I mean as the windows is starting up I can see that green bar getting filled and empty constantly and all of the sudden it reboots it self.I should mention that I can get to that page that I choose safe mode but the same thing happens as windows is trying to come up.
I hava noticed some else had such a problem but in XP and found that there is an error code I need to find to make it easer for you guys to identify the problem. Here it is:

    Stop:C0000218 Registry File Failure

I am not sure if it is the was it should be but I had only few seconds to write this and the page got disappeared very quickly. So I have written this over the few reboots.

I hope there is a solution for this.

    Thanks

I don't think so, the information relates to a folder C:\Windows\Repair which I can't see exists in Vista.

My suggestion would be to run a Startup Repair.

Yes, Windows XP method should work for Vista (sorry, I didn't notice I was in the Vista Forum), but if you have a Vista DVD, I would rather try some of the repair options from the DVD first.

I'd first try the option Startup Repair, if that fails try System Restore.

To access the repair options, you will have to boot off the DVD, choose your Language/Keyboard options and on the Install now screen, click Repair your computer.

Could be the XP method doesn't work in Vista... I forgot now - anyone would be better off having forgotten Vista by now ;)
