Connection Issues with "Some" Sites

I fixed a co-worker up with a new machine I built. (xp pro and office 2002 "“ both updated) She was having the exact same problem with old pc.


Example: If she types our companies web site into her IE7 address bar she gets taken to www.22.charter.net Search page. "Sorry, the page you are looking for cannot be found." Have tried only typing the address, have tried with www. In front and have tried http:// and all have the same results.

If she goes to MSN.com and searches for our web site she gets taken to the same Charter Communications search page.

If she goes to Google and searches she can get some correct hits but cannot access our site.

Another Example: Compassbank.com
If she types Compassbank.com she gets taken to the Charter search page.
If she types http://Compassbank.com or www.Compassbank.com she gets taken to the standard IE page cannot be displayed.

Course, everything works fine on any of my three pc’s. Wondering if she’s gotten hijacked or maybe doing something common to both of her machines as part of her personalizing her machine?

Come to find out her TCP/IP settings were pointing to a Local DNS server instead of the ISP....
