Have a client that is on w2k using a Dimension 2100 on cable modem. All of a sudden he started getting this error when it makes a connection to a web page. Unable to really find anything that makes sense to this error.

    Error: Connecting to shell

Anybody have any ideas ??? Does not seem to stop sites from displaying.

Any web site or just one (or just a few)?

Secure Shell login attempts come to mind. Maybe the user has downloaded the SSH app or maybe he/she is trying to hit a site that requires it.

When he first jumps on the net about 3 of these errors come up immediately. Click close and all is well. System seems in good shape and the errors dont seem to come up after the initial ones. I also thought it was a secure web site or maybe he downloaded something but he says no. I was unable to link a specific web site to the error message. Messages come up first and then his home page.

maybe he downloaded something but he says no

    Allows for 3 options.
    1. He really didn't download anything.
    2. He did download/install but didn't know it.
    3. He is afraid he'd look silly if he admitted to a d/l that caused a problem and is lying thru his teeth.

On a shared machine there is always #4 - some other user did the deed.

I like the options. As usual I appreciate your assistance. To me it doesnt seem to be a problem just an anoyance.

    Thanks Newt
