ok so i have posted here a punch of times for virus issue. I told my boss at work i should be able to help him with his computer. He has a hp windows 7 computer that when i am connect to the router show i have full access on his computer. when you click on internet explorer it doesn't go to the diagnose page. I run the diagnostic and nothing showing any issues.

That was a waste of time if it was that far out of date. It should be updated every time before you run it. There are updates for it every day and sometimes more than once a day.

i realize that with malwarebytes, i have put this on any computer someone brings to me to figure out.. Thanks to Broni... but considering i was see connected to internet but ie was saying it isn't seeing the internet i figured better safe to run that while waiting for a reply.

I had to add it using a memory stick so of course it was out of date and couldn't be updated.

Got any ideas of what to try next bill or spyware...?

Temporarily disable the wireless on the laptop.

Right-click the network icon in the notification area, and then click Diagnose and repair.

    Run this command:
    cmd /c ping google.com>%temp%\$.$&notepad %temp%\$.$
and paste the results in your next reply.

What happens in Internet Explorer if you go to http://74.125.224.102

    What about http://www.google.com

If you can get to the first one, but not the second, try changing your DNS servers to:

    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

Now try those links again. You should be able to get to both.

If not, what about in Firefox or Chrome, (or any other browser)?

I'll try the advice, but I tried to install Chrome as I always do. It said it needs internet to finish so anything else would be happy to try. I'll be back later tonight with how that went

In Control Panel > Interbet Options > Connections tab > LAN settings button:
verify that no proxy connection is there.

Per the ping test, you do have an Internet connection. Something is preventing the browser from resolving addresses.

    Uncheck "automatically connect ".

Go to control panel > networking > rt click each adapter > select properties > double click TCP/IP4 > Advanced button > Wins tab > uncheck use LM Hosts and checkmark net-bios over tcp/ip.

Also, open the hosts file using Notepad and post contents here.
