The title basically sums it up.

I have a computer in our domain that hosts a shared folder. I have a computer I want to keep off the domain for security purposes, but I still want it to have the ability to connect to this single shared folder and have full access. Both machines are Windows 2000 SP4.

I tried setting the permissions on the folder to full access for Everyone but I am still prompted for a password when connecting. To avoid confusion I don't want the user to see a password prompt window like I am getting now.

Is there a way to do this?

Hmmmm. Interesting question. I think this will do the job for you although I can't test it to be sure.

On the domain PC, create a new group.

Add only your problem user to the group. You would normally put in a domain user as domainname\username but (here is the "I think" part) try this one as ip-address\username. It might work using computername\username but IP is more likely.

Add that group to the folder's security with modify access - only admins will need full access - and modify rights will allow all a user should need to do.
