I am currently running an NT 4.0 svc pck 6a Server as a signal Domain.
I would like to ad a database server to the domain. I will be installing Windows 2000 Server w/5 CAL’s

    My Strategy is two parts:
1)Install the new database server (Win2000 Srvr) as a member server to my NT PDC
2)I am building the new database server (Win2000 Srvr) with two IDE drivers that I would like to mirror

    My questions are:
1)Regarding strategy #1 is this doable? If yes
1.1 Can you offer any how-to (step by step?)
1.2 Any insights or pit falls

2)Regarding strategy #2 is this doable? If yes
1.1 Can you offer any how-to (step by step?)
1.2 Any insights or pit falls

    Thanks for your help.
I am doing this the best way I know how. Working hard, putting all I have into it, and admitting I don’t know everything.

    Yes to both.
Install this server as a member server in your domain. You can actually do this during the install.

There shouldn't be any pitfalls to this.

after installation I recommend installing service pack 2 or 3.

Then convert your C drive to dynamic disk.
Convert your other drive to a dynamic disk, then mirror your C drive.
You do all of this from Disk management.

The only pitfall I forsee is if you have to reinstall, you have to remove your partitions and start over again because the Win2k installer can't read/write to dynamic disks.
