    I have an on board sound card and a sound card in one of the P.C.I slots. I have a Sapphire X1650 pro graphics card. My O.S is XP.

    I have connected my pc to my LCD T.V via the DVI port on the graphics card - HDMI port on TV, I also have my monitor connected to the VGA port on this card.

    The sound for my pc comes through the on board sound card to desktop speakers. Which is fine.

    I have a problem in that the graphics card is pre 2000 model so it doesn't support sound through the DVI to HDMI. I have bought a 3.5mm audio lead to connect pc to the tv (via the PCI sound card). I don't want to change the leads from desktop to tv or vice-versa every time I watch a film or switch back to pc. How can I configure this set up?

    Donno if this helps;

    I am not certain, but it sounds like you want audio output to the TV when you are doing playback, then change back to PC speakers when you don't.

    Is this what you are looking for?

    It outputs to both, but will still get output when you want to watch television channels...if so, you might need to get a switch to toggle between the outputs.

    If you have installed the drivers for your PCI card, it probably has the option of running two channels, four channels and maybe 5.1 or 6 channels. You should be able to change the output connectors on the card so that the green connector is for your PC and one of the other two connectors goes to your TV. It will be in the "manager" for the audio card (if you have installed it), there might be an icon in the Notification (System) Tray.
