Connect and Save greyed out in Dialup Networking

My friend has the connect automatically and save password boxes greyed out when she attempts to dial up her ISP.
I've read how to fix this somewhere but just can't remember.
She has to enter her password and click Connect every time. Even after entering the password the boxes remain grey.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
She's using Win95 with IE 5.5 & Netscape 4.79

i think you can go into your control panel and then into modem and setting and change the setting there
