    Hello :)

My brother has a network at home with 2 desktops and a printer on it. He also has laptop with Win XP he uses for work and travel. He just bought an access point so he could surf the Internet with his laptop anyplace in the house. The wireless works fine on the laptop but when goes and connects the laptop to the wired network so he can print something, it will not print unless he disables the "Wireless Network" in Network Connections. Then if wants to use the wireless again he must go back into Network Connections, disable the "Local Area Connection" and enable "Wireless Connection ".
If both connections are "Enabled" only 1 or the other will work, not both.
How can we use both networks without having to enable and disable the every time we wants to print something.
The wired network is connected by a Linksys Switch.
The wireless network is using Trendnet WAP Connected to a Comcast modem
All the PC’s have Windows XP.
    Thank you

If the switch is plugged into the wireless router he will be able to print to any shared printer or networkk printer from the laptop using just the wifi connection. He shouldn't need the wired connection to print.

    Thanks for the reply,

The Trendnet Wireless Access Point has only 1 port and the it is connected to the Cable modem.
The desktop and printer are on a separate network connect by a Linksys Switch.

He should be using a router instead of a switch. Modem > router > access point.

Otherwise he's sol. Unlike Linux, Windows cannot connect to 2 different networks simultaneously using separate adapters.

Modifying the metric value won't enable both connections to be used, but rather it will change the connection which Windows defaults to.
