Hi, I have a Windows 2000 domain (one 2000 domain controller) and our 95/98 clients are not mapping the home drives. Previously, I have got the home directories working by setting up a batch file that runs in the 'startup' folder, but this no longer works as, for security reasons, I have set a policy to block the command prompt.

The line in the logon script (which is supposed to map the drive) is the following:

    "net use Z: /home /yes "

What is the problem with this, please? The drive simply isn't mapping during the logon process, but if I type that line into the DOS prompt, it maps immediately.

Why not set it up in the user's account properties to automatically connect to the home directory at logon rather than through a logon script.

This is on Windows 98 - I don't believe that feature would be available from Windows 2000 Server. Only Windows 2000 Professional/XP/NT clients can comprehend the home directory from the users properties.
