    Hi all,

Hoping for some help from some NS6.x gurus here. We're looking at upgrading from 4.79 to 6.23 very soon and we currently use the configuration editor that comes with 4.79 to lock out all settings in the Preferences tab.

Is there a way to do this in 6.x? I haven't found a tool that's equivalent and the CCK doesn't seem to have the required functionality.

    Any help appreciated.

    Ed.

    Welcome to the Forum, EdHarris!

    Hi Ed,

I would encourage you to instead, seriously consider Netscape 7.01. Netscape 6.23 is obsolete, and unstable.

In Communicator, Preferences could be disabled by renaming the prefui32.dll file. It's not that easy in 7.01, as the UI data are scatter. You are the second person to ask how to disable Preferences, and as that is most certainly beyond my expertise, let me direct you to a thread that may help: Preference File Location.
