    Hi all,

Does anyone know where to get a handy device that measures the conductivity of a network cable? ( be it a straight or cross cable)

    Thanks

The cheepest you can find is a hub and 2 nics. When you connect a good straight through cable to a nic and a hub, you will get a link light. When you connect a cross over between two nics, you'll get a link light.
However you can buy a cable tester at Radio Shack or Fry's.

Thanks for the reply . I've asked that question was because I had a hard time achieving the optium output when I was doing file transfer from server to server. I've tested out a lot of cables and finally found one that meets the criteria. In order not to waste time testing each cable with file transfer, I wish to get a device that I can evaluate them on the spot.

    :)
