My fried has a shutdown problem. He said he tracked it down to hardware so that's why I posted in hardware. I think he has a gigabite MB (latest XP) and he is running win XP. I beleve it worked good untill his auto bios update updated his bios. Now when he shuts down, it hangs at the ok to shutdown screen. Anybody heard of this? What can be done? Thanks, Chris.

    Hi Chris.

In Windows XP there is a bug that keeps the computer from powering off on shutdown. It is easly fixed.

    Click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/System.
Click on Hardware then Device Manager.
Click on View at top then Show Hidden Devices.
Click on the plus sign next to NT/Apm/Legacy Support.
RIGHT click on the entry NT/Apm/Legacy Interface Node.
    Click on Enable.

The computer will go through a few girations and it will come up running. That should do it.

Hope this helps, let us know.
