I have a computer that i am putting together just from extra spare parts sitting around and ran into something weird. After replacing power supply, ram and even CPU, I had yet to get this thing to boot. I swapped out the power supply with everything disconnected and only the main board and CPU connectors plugged into the Mobo and it posted. So then i plugged everything back in and it wouldn't boot.

I eventually figured out that this motherboard (Intel D945gtp) Has to have the jumper in "config mode ", boot to BIOS, exit, and the put it in normal mode. If you reboot while the jumper is set to normal mode it SHOULD reboot fine, but doesn't. It just sits there with a black screen and does not post to BIOS until you put the jumper in config mode and do all that stuff again and then it will post in normal mode.

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of that. Other than that, everything works totally fine.

    Thanks

Have you changed the CMOS battery? It sounds like it is flat.

    i have not

I did not try that, but after i installed windows, it was rebooting fine. Then i installed a video card and now it wont boot whatsoever. Even after i took it out. The funny thing is that it didnt give me an error message about the cmos voltage. I can check that out. Thanks
