    Hi
In the past 3 days, my son had a Trojan Virus on the Internet. He has since tried to get rid of it using AntiVirus, but with no success. He installed a new AntiVirus, and since then, the computer will not reboot at all. Suggestions come up to use Safe Mode, Start Windows Normally etc, however these also don't work. Please advise, as important files are saved on this computer.
    Thanks very much,
    Gail.

    Hi,
You would be much better posting this in the "Removing Spyware & Viruses" forum.Especially when there is important info at stake.

    mickzer.

Was the original antivirus uninstalled before the new one was installed? Only one antivirus should be running at any time.

In the situation where none of the troubleshooting menus will work, I only know of trying a repair reinstall of Windows (boot to the Windows CD, after the Eula there is a selection "Repair the current installation of Windows "). Some Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) version of Windows don't offer this choice, their setup says "All data will be lost ".

If a repair reinstall does not work, the hard disk drive can be put into another computer and the data backed up, or, you may want to take the opportunity to purchase another HDD, install Windows on that, and put the old drive into an external USB case.

    Matt
PS get him to learn about backing up data :)
