    A coworker here is listed as an admin on her machine (Win2k Pro) and as an admin on two target machines (both Win2k Adv Serv). She is able to use computer management and connect to one machine but not the other for some weird reason. Is there some sort of settings outside of the "Local Group" Admin that she needs in order to correctly attach to the computer?

    All that should be needed is for the user's account to be part of the local administrator's group on the target machines.

    If they/you are on a domain, make sure the domain account is a member rather than a local account though.

    For instance
    Domain = XYZ
    User = smithj
    Domain user account is XYZ\smithj

    Issues to be considered:

    There may be a Local Policy preventing external access to the Advanced Server for given users (both local and Domain-wide).

    As I've boosted up to Active Directory straight away I can give hints about that and pointers to non-AD settings but you'd be able to search for other info on some of the search engines.

    If AD, goto Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Settings and confirm that the username used to connect across the network is within the names specified within Access the Computer from the Network.

    A similar piece of functionality is available in the User Manager a given server in NT4.0 so may be avaiable in a NON-AD setting for Win2000.

    Joe.
