Hi, I am currently having problems at the windows is shutting down screen. My hard drives make a noise (like when it stops) and all my lights are gone including the mouse on my screen but the "windows is shutting down screen" still appears and my computer main light it is but with no activity. I have tried system restore, re-installing windows xp, and their are no errors in my event viewer. Any help would be appreaciated.. Thanks?

Hi, Tenno. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

There are several possible causes for shutdown issues.

How much time are you allowing for shutdown while the "...shutting down" is displayed before you conclude it has hung? Perhaps you are not allowing sufficient time for the shutdown to complete.

When you reinstalled Windows, what kind of reinstall did you perform?

Did you install or remove any software and/or hardware immediately prior to your hanging shutdown issue appeared? If so, then please provide details about that.

There is an ongoing discussion about an issue similar to yours going on in this linked thread with some links to click for possible causes/solutions. You might want to read that thread and check out the links provided there to see if anything gives you any ideas about additional details you can provide about your issue.

NOTE: Please do not hijack that thread with posts about your own issue. Just keep an eye on that thread in case something discussed there might apply to your issue. Post any details relevant to your own issue in this thread.
