Computer Freezes Up & Runs Very Slow!

My Computer runs very slow especially when trying to surf the web. It is also slow on start up and takes forever to finish loading. I am also noticing that the computer has a tendency to freeze up and lock up.

Do think by adding more memory that this may help it? It is an older computer (Pentium 2 and has a 400MHZ Processor, 320 MB RAM)

More memory will make the biggest difference. Get a gig or two. If you have the time get it online.
I would suggest running defrag that should help.
Maybe there are some critters that one of the experts can identify in your HJT log.

Your lockup problem may be because Comodo and AVG's AS are conflicting periodically:

Of the two, disable AVG from starting on bootup and run on demand as a scanner only and see if that resolves the problem.

It would help, but not as much as most people think If you doubled the RAM, it would at most increase the performance about 10/20% and that number would diminish as more is added. You have a slow system and RAM will only do so much.

I suspect that your system is limited to a maximum of 512 MB's of RAM. If you have the original "manual" it may tell you there or look up the system on line. Whatever the limit is, it probably would be worthwhle to go to 512 at least which is considered the minimum for running XP.
