When i turn my computer on it boots then starts beeping. I can not figure out what is causing it to do this. It beeps every 2 seconds like a smoke detector. Please tell me what to do to make it stop.

    luvmykids0114 - Welcome to the Board :)

The BIOS is indicating that you have a problem related to hardware - the exact timing of the beeps is important in determining the nature of the problem.

Is it a single beep followed by a 2 second pause or .... ??

It would help to know which make of BIOS you have - have a look in the BIOS and let us know.

You will probably see a note on the POST screen or splash screen as the computer starts indicating which key to press to enter setup - the BIOS.

If the computer is an OEM - Dell, HP, etc post the make and model number please.

    FYI: BIOS Beep Codes

Please always respond in your thread so that all can see and maybe contribute and/or learn - we do not deal with problems by PM or email.

If you are uncertain as to how to Reply see here ....

I have never had a Dell, but look on the back of the computer - it is a desktop? or go to Control Panel > System and on the General tab it may be listed.

The list of BIOS beep codes I posted was more for information than anything else - I have been unable to find any info on constant bleeping.

One source suggested that it was nothing to do with the BIOS, but was down to sticking keys on the keyboard. On the off chance you have or can borrow for a few minutes another keyboard to test I would do that.

In the meantime I will call up some other members for an opinion.

See attachment for how to find the Service Tag. You/we can use it at the Dell website to get detailed information about the system.
