Resolved Computer asks for BIOS password

    Hello, my name is Rosalio Moreno im from Grand Junction colorado i have no experience in computer and i had a problem i used a windows 98 computer to run a old desktop cnc milling machine, i didnt used this computer for all the winter and the batterie that goes inside de computer died so i replace with a new one and when i turn on the computer it loaded a messages telling me the processor of the computer and press F1 for run the set up so i did that and the machine asked for a password that i dont know i bought this computer on a yard sale a year ago it was running fine until the batterie die, so if anyone can help me how to unlock this computer i wil really apreciate, thanks, and by the way i do have the windows 98 disk, and windows 95 also,

    Just do an internet search for: how to reset bios password.

    hi, thanks for the help but i stil have the problem i searched the information to remove the reset the password, but im a little confuse about what AMI means or AWARD so is that the type of the motherboard and how i can find out what type of motherboard is, and also the backdoor passwords only work for laptops? i tried many of this passwords but no one unlock the computer

    It seems to be a password put there by the computer (OEM) manufacturer.

    You should be able to look up your model at the manufacturer's website and download the User Guide/manual. It should tell you the (default) password in the manual.

    hi chalio, AMI, or AWARD are BIOS Brand names not motherboards, if you have a look at your Motherboard you will be able to see if you have a AMI or AWARD BIOS.

    Have a read through this article and give it a try and this may help solve your problem.
