Sometimes I need to find the complete folder pathway to a particular application or a file. If I right-click on the Program file in Start, and then click Properties, it usually just gives the first few folders, without giving me the complete path. The same thing happens when I do a search. How do I find the entire path? Thanks

Instead of using the search function in XP try AgentRansack - a far better/quicker search engine than Win XP's - and it shows the full path.

Well, you can try this: open My Computer, go to Tools -> Folder Options. Go to View tab and in the first part, Files and Folders, make sure you have signed (a V by) Display the full path in the address bar and/or Display the full path in the title bar. Click Apply . Don't forget to click on Apply to all folders before closing the window.
From this point on you will have the full path in your address bar and/or your title bar. It is better to have them both: the title bar helps you see the path when the window is in the background, or even minimized (you can see it by bringing the mouse on the window's button on the taskbar) and the address bar gives you the option of copying it into the Clipboard by selecting it.
Another thing: if you have a shortcut and you want to see its original file or folder, right click on it and choose Properties. In the Target field you have the full path.
I hope this will help you.

sorinso, I followed your directions and then I right-clicked Microsoft Word in Start Programs and clicked Properties. In the General tab--Location, the path is still incomplete. It reads, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\P It just stops at P. Am I misunderstanding something? Is there another location for the full path for this program and for other folders?

Using the above method you may be only seeing part of the path. If you put the "Text Select" icon in the path and use the right arrow key to move icon all the way to the right, you will see the part you can not see. The line is to short for full path view of longer directories. You could highlight the whole thing and copy and paste the text in notepad to see it in it's entirety but that's a pain.

    Oneway.......
On your menu bar make sure the addressbar is clicked. Using this should show you full path.

    Another way...
if you don't mind shortend dos 8.3 names is to open a dosprompt box and drag and drop the file on it. The full path will be displayed.
