I am glad the BBS is back.

Here is my current question: when I open and close both Word and Excel in Office 2000 Pro I get this error message "Compile error in hidden mode: AutoExecNew." It doesn't seem to interfere with the operation of the applications. But it is an annoyance. And I haven't found [although it is mentioned] any intelligible explanation or solution in the help files.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of this error message?

From what I've read, reasons can range from corrupt or incorrectly installed versions of Excel to old versions of the Microsoft Visual Basic run time.

I have used the repair tool in the software. Also, I have uninstalled office [sr-1, but I didn't do that for sr-2] from the system and reinstalled it after removing the office entries in the Registry. None of that seems to help. The OS is win98SE and the software is Office 2000 pro. They should match.

Thank you, Alchemy, for your help. The link not only pertained to the problem, but it in fact solved. I don't get the error message in either Word or Excel anymore. Thanks a lot!
