I am creating a domain, and have managed to add a few XP computers, and a few Vista computers.

I have two Vista computers that didn't seem to give me any problems, but Once I added a Vista laptop I am getting a compatibility error from the Vista Client machine every time i log into the domain account on that computer.

When I log into Vista I am greeted with command window, after a few seconds a "Program Compatibility Assistant" Window pops up.

    the error says
    "

The Program has known compatibility issues

Check online to see if solutions are available from the Microsoft website. If solutions are found, Windows will automatically display a website that lists steps you can take.

Program: Microsoft Windows Small Business Server
    Publisher: Microsoft
    Location: \\Server\Clients\setup\setup.exe

Microsoft Windows Small Business Server has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows and might not run as expected. For more information contact Microsoft.

    "

From there I can check for solutions (this turns up absolutely nothing)

Run Program (this doesn't seem to have any adverse affect on the machine when I do this.)

Cancel (This also, doesn't seem to cause any problems with the computer interacting with the domain, local content, or the server itself)

Then there is a check box that says "do not display the message again." I checked it... But every start up you can be sure that it displays that message again.

Has anyone seen something like this before? I have been doing some search on it, and nothing seems to be turning up. I found one Forum with a potential solution, but for me to view it I have to become a paying user... I don't want to pay for a service that may be help me fix this problem. I haven't noticed this before with the other vista computers, but I took the same process in adding it to the domain that I have with the other computers. Anyone ever seen this before?

Thanks for any help I can get
    Jake

    found a fix

It is Windows Vista Business edition.

I did find the fix for it. I searched the error in a few different syntax and it turns out that it is an update for Server 03 sbs SP1 that is supposed to run automatically, since it is a critical update.

However, on my server it didn't run, and when I checked for updates there were no Critical, or recommended updates. I was able to track down the update name and it is called "KB926505. "

The Error is actually a problem specific to Windows Vista based computers running with Outlook 2007 on it. For some reason when you join a domain it causes a very annoy dialog box to open and it doesn't actually cause any problems with the systems functionality (either the server, or the Client machine. Even Outlook ran fine, I configured the users email account after seeing this error for the first time. Without any problems.)

I was able to locate the update, ran in on Server 03 SBS and everything is working tip top now. It looked like all it was, was a permissions error between Vista, Outlook 07, and Server 2003. It doesn't visible affect the system it is just extremely annoying.

Here is the link for the patch if anyone runs into this situation.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926505

Thanks for the interest, and I hope that this will help someone in the future since this fix wasn't all that easy to find.
