Compaq presario 2262, help

    Hi,

    Just installed windows XP on my grandfathers compaq presario 2262, but he does not have the orignla drivers. And the usb driver are not working, I was able to find drivers for them before around two months ago, but since my harddrive crashed I lost them and know can not find any.

    Plase help if you can

    Hi markh80 - Welcome to the Board :)

    I'm not familiar with the little quirks of Compaq PC's and would have thought that the XP USB drivers would have been adequate. However you may find some help here ....

    Hi,

    Yeah I have tried that but the computer is not even seeing the usb, it just has them under unkown devices under device manager.

    Oh well I will keep looking.

    I have reviewed Compaq Presario 2262 Desktop PC - Product Specifications and I hope that Your (or Your grandfathers) expectations on how XP will run aren't too high. CPU speed is on the minimum, maximum possible RAM is on the practical minimum and the size of the standard harddisk would barely hold XP itself.

    I did another search for drivers, for the SIS 5598 chipset but came up with nothing.

    (Personally, I would abandon the "XP project" and (re)install 98SE.)
