    Hey all, Getting computer cleaned up and secure.
    Installed AVG Anti spyware, it found Compaq Connections cookies. Threat medium.
    Is this spyware?
    Also found this;
    C:\System Volume Information\_restore{A2578CBA-012A-4EE9-9E3D-27D3F494A2B6}\RP343\A0024158.exe
    Said it was hijacker.small.
    Thank you.

    Tracking cookies - not a threat, let AVG remove.
    C:\System Volume Information is System Restore's file. I assume from before your cleanup and now part of a SR point.

    You have two choices: you can delete and then re create SR's file by:
    Right click My Computer > Properties > System Restore tab > Check "Turn off System Restore on all drives ".

    Reboot.

    Go back and re-enable SR - will create an initial restore point.

    Or leave it there, its harmless because its inert. The reason to leave it there is because deleting/re creating will leave you w/o a restore point to go back to in case of a system problem, it can always be cleaned out again.

    SR cycles out the oldest restore points on a fifo basis - so it eventually will be gone anyway.

    Having AVG fix may corrupt the file and make it useless.

    Regards - Charles
