I have COMODO's free firewall, and this morning when I did a routine Secunia PSI scan it said my version was outdated and vulnerable, I should update from 8.2.0.4674 to 8.2.0.4792. My first attempt at updating didn't work so I went to the COMODO website and downloaded what was supposed to be the latest version. Even though I specified I wanted only the firewall, the download proceeded to install a program called CHROMODO, which seemed to be COMODO's browser. I went through Win7's Control Panel and uninstalled it. That zapped my original version of COMODO, and I had to do a system restore. I then downloaded a copy of my original version and updated it, but another Secunia scan again shows that version is outdated and vulnerable and I should update to the 4792 version. I downloaded it and see the file is named cispremium_installer.exe. I'm leery of it. For those members here that use the COMODO firewall, what is your version? Anyone tried to install the 4792 version? Is it just the firewall? I sure don't want to have to go through the uninstall and system restore routine again.

I have an old system that runs Comodo Internet Security, version 8.2.0.4508 IIRC. I haven't used it in a while but I can start it tomorrow and find out what happens.

Maybe they "bundle" the browser when doing an online update but there should be a box to untick if you don't want it.

There were 2 extra boxes, and I unchecked them both. One was for the browser and the other for GeekBuddy or something like that. They all came down anyway that first time.

I started the computer and Comodo did a definitions update. I checked the version and it is 8.2.0.4792. The version I mentioned, 8.2.0.4508 is the most recent that I had downloaded and I assumed that was the one running on the system but it has been updated online. I experienced none of the issues you describe but I run Internet Security while you run the Firewall only.

I have downloaded the different free offers from Comodo, Antivirus, Firewall and Internet Security, even though I always install Internet Security. The downloaded files have had different names but the exact same size which is strange but maybe the chosen software gets installed.

Today, I downloaded the 8.2.0.4792 versions of the different installers. The Firewall installer and the Internet Security installer have the exact same size (214041880 bytes) but for this version, the Anti Virus installer is much smaller (61870864 byte).

    ... ...

Christer: Thanks for the update. Today I clicked on the Update button in my 8.2.0.4674 version, and it said I'm up to date. Why it didn't download or even recommend downloading v.4792 is a mystery. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two versions, so until I learn something that suggests I really should install v.4792 I'm going to sit tight.
