I need to add or enable ports 7770 and 7771 on my computer. I am running Windows XP. Where and how do I do this? I have looked in device manager and cannot find or understand how to do it. I thought there was a place that you could ' "add" ports. Plese help.

    Joyce,

    There certainly is :)

Control Panel > Add Hardware > Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard > Next

Check 'Yes, I have already .......... > Next

Scroll down to 'Add a new hardware device' > highlght > Next

check 'Install the hardware that I manually select ..... > Next

Scroll down to Ports and there you are :)

Hope it does what you want.

I am rapidly getting out of my depth on this, but it would help to know why you need to add/enable those ports.

I don't mind telling you. I'm trying to set up a file sharing program so that I can access my files from another location using BubbleIP (www.bubbleip.com)

Seen the site and understand what you need to do, but don't know how and can't find any relevant info. Sorry.

Suggest you repost with a specific title to the thread such as ' How to add or enable ports 7770 and 7771'

I shall be interested to see the responses - learning all the time :)

    How to enable ports 7770 & 7771

I need to enable ports 7770 & 7771. I am running windows XP. On advice from another user, I followed the add new hardware wizard but it named the ports com5 and I was not able to change the name or secify what name when I ran the new hardware wizard. Can someone please give me detailed instructions?

    Joyce,

I had in mind a completely new thread - 'How to enable ports 7770 & 7771?' to draw in those who do not read every thread, and to highlight your problem. :)

I was writing a response to tell you that is what I titled it when all of a sudden I realized when I wrote the post there was a problem on the site and it did not take. So thanks for reminding me I needed to do that!
