    Hi,

When I look at the pcs in our domain some of them have the user name in the comments field.

I would like all of them to show the username, but when I go to the Network ID properties there is nothing I can fill in,I've also looked at the computer accounts on the active directory but no luck there either. There are description fields but these do not show up in the comments field.

Where do these comments come from??

    Thanks.

Those comments are set on each computer.

control panel > system > computername tab (or network ID) > Change button > more button.

from there each person can change the computer description. However, there is no way for you yourself to change those fields so they show up how you want them to in My Network Places.

    Actually there is.

The value is stored in (at least for NT4/2K/XP)
    HKLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/lanmanserver/parameters/srvcomment

Push the value to the registry when they log on.

Or if it's static (users don't move around) you can just write what you want to the registry one time and be done with it.
