Comments/Computer in My Network Places

How do I change the contents of the "Comments" and "Computer" columns in My Network Places in both WinXP Professional and Home Edition. The contents of each entry seems to be assigned randomly. That makes it impossible to sort the shared folders.

Right-click My Computer. Left-click Properties. Go to the Computer Name tab. Change the comment and the PC name to suit yourself.

Note that you can only do this from the local machine. If others on your network need changing, it will have to be done from each PC.

Depending on the way your network is set up, it may take a few minutes for the changes to be seen by all PCs on the network or it may require they all be rebooted to see the 'new you'.
