I wanted to scan a newspaper article bigger than the scanner bed, so I got it in two scans. Is there a program (pref. free) that will let me combine the scans into a single, big image file? My scanner only came with drivers and a OCR demo.

I use Paint Shop Pro which does that relatively easily using its 'layers' feature, as in making montages. I think it costs around $100, but you might check your friends for someone who could do this for you.

You can download and install gimp
It has all the features that photoshop has and would allow you to layer them into one layer and one picture

Hotaru--It also can be done in Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) using the panoramic view. Irfanview is free.
It also can be done by opening two irfanview windows, each with one of the two parts of the whole image. Then create a space next to the image on one that is the pixel size of the other image and copy the second image into the space created in the first window.
I have no idea which of the suggested ideas and programs is best, but wanted to mention this additional option.
