Every time I reboot COM 1 stops working, and I must uninstall and then reinstall it through Device Manager. It then works fine until the next reboot, when it quits again. COM 2 sometimes also comes up non-functional too, along with a MIDI device and an onboard infrared controller, a device that doesn't show up when functioning normally.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

After reinstalling chipset drivers and booting from backup BIOS to no avail, I discovered that disabling the ports in the BIOS causes everything to work fine. Go figure...
