    Win 8.1
Font = Ariel true type (Set to 12 Bold)
    monitor = NEC MultiSync EA304WMi(Digital)
graphics - AMD Radeon HD 7700 series

On the desktop (icon labels, drop down menus, Control panel,
etc) i will have a letter (Ex. W) part of it will be 1 color and part
will be a different color. Looks like any windows panel has this effect.
Programs (Notepad, WordPad, web sites) are not affected.

Anyone seen this condition? Anyone found a fix?
    thanks,

    retiredlearner,

    thanks for replying.

Yes, i did all that stuff.

I think i may have found the answer - this is a new monitor with
    a native high-res of 2560 x 1600 . The DVI cable i have is a DVI-D
    single-link (dont support higher res). I will get a DVI-D Dual-link
cable tomorrow that will support higher resolutions. Hopefully
    it will fix the problem....

Will post back on results tomorrow.

    thanks,

Since DVI single link is limited to 1920 x 1200, you do need a dual link cable to display 2560 x 1600. So assuming that is the only problem, it should fix it. Keep us posted.

"Good "? That monitor costs a 1/3 more than most complete (with monitor, keyboard, mouse, & speakers) PCs. It better look nothing short of absolutely gorgeous!

    Bill,

OK, a little understated, its fantastic!

Thinking about a new graphics card tho. The games (Strike Fighters series)
looks and works good the card only has 1 gig of memory on it - Radion
HD 7700,, pretty old for gaming.
Trouble is, new card must fit in a single card slot and have single card
height to it. I don't have room for a 2 slot card.

    thanks,

Then clearly, it is time for a new case or new motherboard - or both!
