The other day I deleted a few things (very stupid of me I know!), one of which must've had something to do with the way the screen & color functions (don't remember the name of it or anything?) because now my resolution is 640x480 pixels... it's STUCK at that... I cannot move it over. & The color is @ 16, & when I drop down the menu, that is as high as the color goes. Is there anyway I can fix that? How can I get it back to normal? Please tell me this can be fixed? I'd really hate to have to take my computer somewhere just to have the color & resolution fixed. =(

& I don't know if this is of any use & I don't know what it means but it says in the display properties, settings, above the colors:

    Display:
Default Monitor on Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)

Is that what it's suppose to say? Never paid attention to it until now. Thanks in advance. =)

Hi PumpkinQueen - and Welcome to the Board :)
Glad you posted that - I guess you've managed to delete some or all of the drivers for your video card :(

Basically you need to re-install the drivers for your video card - I wonder if you have a disk or CD with these on?

Is that something that would've been given to me?
& If I do have it what would it say on the CD?
& Just for the future if I did end up finding it & re-installed
it would that mean re-installing everything?

Depending on who supplied the PC you may have a CD for your video card containing the drivers. Common cards are ATI, Hercules, Matrox, etc and the name of the card should be printed on the CD itself.

Things do get a little complex as some PC's don't have a separate video card, but the video is contained in a chip on the motherboard - in this case you may have a driver CD for your motherboard which should have the video driver.

I'm sorry to be vague on this, but there are so many possibilities and without knowing what your PC make is I can't be more specific.

The drivers can be re-installed independently of everything else - we are not talking about re-installing Windows or any of your programs.
