up till now, i still don't know exactly what kind of virus hit me? or is it a virus??

all i know is that it's about some Chinese keyword used to search on the internet. there is this folder named: 3721 in my program files for a long time but yesterday it really started to drive me crazy.

the main symptoms are all related to the IE, when i double click on the icon of IE, my download manager "netransport" pops up and try to download this: http://cns.3721.com/cns.dll?fw=4&name=home&pid=. Also, when opening a link on the webpage, the same thing happens (here comes another one!)

I tried several approach to get rid of it but it's still there.

A software called "pestpatrol" claims to be able to clean so i tried the evaluation version, it did find these nasty programs and folders and registry ? But this is not a free shareware : ( and i would hate to pay for a virus that hit me!

I also tried to follow some instructions given on the internet to manually edit (i mean delete and modify the value) registry by regedit.exe.

Just hope the experts here can give some help.

    thanks!

    Thanx for the url, PeteC.

I've found similar pages before and just now i downloaded the two software they mentioned: Ad-aware 6.0 and Spybot. good news is both of them detected "cnsmin" but the bad news is neither could clear up the mess and every time i reopen the program, it detected the same things again. Take Spybot for example, it couldn't delete some registry keys and .dll files.

I'm going to run my pc in safe mode and try again.
