my laptop reports cmos power low, I have to press F1 to enter set up and enter date and time, I eventually decided to replace the cmos cell battery, checked ID and replaced with new battery. Result power on then powers down straight away, when i put old battery back in revert to entering set up once again but am able to use laptop. tried a another new battery with same result. laptop will not power up without old battery in place , any ideas?

Try this (it's amazing how often it works) ;)

    Use your new CMOS Battery
Disconnect both PSU and Main Battery
Press and hold the power switch for 30 seconds.
Reconnect the main battery and PSU if required
    Switch on.

Let us know if that works
