In Internet Explorer 11 there is a setting "Close unused folders in History and Favorites". Is there a similar setting or add-on for Firefox Quantum (57) to collapse the folder tree, at least when closing Firefox?

Hmmm, I was not even aware of that setting though I guess it has been in IE for many years, just disabled by default.

I just looked in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Pale Moon and could find no similar option in any of them.

Neither have I in Firefox but I seem to remember that there has been an add-on to "fix" that. A lot of add-ons quit working after the Quantum upgrade so in the event that I should find it again, it probably wouldn't work anymore.

Yeah, Quantum seems to be breaking a lot of add-ons. I note this one does not work with it. At least it says it is not compatible.

In the not too distant future ... ... fingers crossed ... ;) ... there will be a similar one that works.

Or, Mozilla just puts it in there which I would much prefer than relying on "3rd party" add-ons.

That said, Pale Moon is my default, and I don't keep the Bookmarks toolbar displayed (I still rely on the good ol' Quick Launch bar :D) so not really an issue for me.

I don't remember Mozilla ever having it "in there" but I may be wrong.

No, I doubt they did since they rely on 3rd party add-ons.

Thanks but I don't think so. That thread is 12 years old and comparing IE6!
