I noticed for the second time in a few days my clock is off. I've had years a go when my battery was dead, but this is 3-5 hours off. Time before this, changed to not daylight savings time. To the hour off. This time it was not to the hour off.

When I check it says Pacific Daylight savings time (correct), but it's way off. What could be causing this?

Tonight is was ahead over 3 hours. Thank you, Chris.

    Hi Chris,

I too, only know it as being a battery issue.
Check that the battery connectors are tight. I would spray that area with Contact Cleaner (or wipe the battery and connections with spirit).

I started to think about it. I installed a TV Tuner Card. It has a thing where it will power up and record. It's hooked into the motherboard. I never had problems untill after I installed it. Thanks for the links and answers. Chris.

P.S. I read on one of the links where it said Windows Clocks are not very accrute. All mine since Win 95 have been right on. Don't gain or lose at all. This is first time a clock on one of my computers has been switching times (except battery).

Have you set the time in your BIOS settings? Enter the BIOS/CMOS, it should be on the main configuration screen (or check your manual)

    Try this strategy>

    1) Start->Run type cmd.exe then click OK
    2) type net stop w32time then press Enter key
    3) type w32tm.exe /unregister then press Enter key (You may have to do step 2 and 3 twice. The first time you may get an error.)
    4) type w32tm.exe /register then press Enter key
    5) type net start w32time then press Enter key

If that doesn't work click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open
box, and then click OK. On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then
click to clear the Load Startup Items check boxes.

Click OK, and then click Restart to restart your computer.

After Windows starts, determine whether the symptoms are still present.

If no symptoms are present, troubleshoot programs that are set to
automatically load on start up further by going back into msconfig, click
to select the Load Startup Items check boxes then click on the Startup tab
and tick each program individually. Eventually the fault should return and
you should then have identified where the error is coming from.

    check time zone

the incorrect time zone for your area will also do this.

Are you sure you are not in the Central time zone>(central time, US and Canada)
