After I paste from the clipboard,it retains the info--after I copy to it again, it pastes
the 1st info. I must delete the info manually to paste again. Is this normal??? Joe R.

No, it isn't, and I'll be watching this thread with interest to see what the fix is. :D

Do you have MS Office loaded?

Does ctrl-c to copy and then ctrl-v to paste work properly or is it busted as well?

You can't turn off the MS Office clipboard; at least not in the XP version I have and probably not with other recent ones but you can set the options to let you track what is being placed there. Might be interesting to watch what is happening. I'm not really clear exactly how it and the native XP clipboards interact.

Have you checked your event logs for errors/warnings

    Couple of suggestions:

Try start~run~sfc /scannow and see if that fixes whatever is causing the problem.

Try a repair of the MS Office install just in case the Office clipboard is causing issues.

Unless you do lots of network copy/paste, try setting the clipbook service startup to disabled and then reboot.

No real idea if any of this will help or not. But all the suggestions are harmless so worth a try IMO.

    Clipboard

    I was just thinking:eek: When I 1st got
XP, the clipboard viewer was not included. Am I correct? I think I loaded it from my old HD which had 98 on it. That could be the source of my problem.

    FYI,
the XP Clipbook Service has little or nothing to do with Copy+Paste on the client system, it is a service primarily for Remote Copy+Paste to and from other networked systems, and even then, is an unnecessary service to have running.

If not using Remote Access or Remote Registry services then Clipbook should be disabled, along with the Network DDE & Network DDE DSDM services.

And yes, the 98 Clipbook Viewer should not be used on XP. Go to add-remove in Control Panel and select add-remove windows components. Clipboard Viewer is in the Accessories section.

    Clipboard

Why may I ask? Other than my original
question (problem) it has served me well.

I am not on any network.

It may very well be that using the Win98 version of the clipboard viewer is causing the problem you're having.

Win98's version is named the same thing as XP's version - clipbrd.exe - but is located in C:\Windows\System. XP's is in C:\Windows\System32.

If XP's clipboard viewer isn't installed (and I don't think it is by default), you can install it through Control Panel>Add Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components (left-hand pane)>Accessories and Utilities>Details button>Accessories>Details button...there, finally, you can put a check in for Clipboard viewer and click OK as many times as it takes.

Then disable the Win98 version by deleting it or renaming it and see if the problem persists. You can, of course, put a shortcut to XP's clipboard viewer wherever you want one.

Pete, the second of the two links worked like a charm. Now I've got my clipboard. Thanks so much.
