Client For Microsoft Network need checked?

I have a stand alone computer XP SP2 Home Edition, with cable connection.
Do I need this client checked? What exactly is it for?

 

It is for sharing files and resources on a network. I think it is installed by default.
No need to mess with it

Note that some ISPs may require it, but the internet itself does not.

Note also that you "may" need it for your home network if you have one, unless you want to reconfigure things.

My recommendation is to just leave it alone and use a firewall and antivirus program.

 

Thanks for the link. I think my ISP does need this on. I was just curious about what exactly it does.
