I want to pass a computer on to a friend but would like to get my name and anything else pertinent off before the giving. I have removed email address, bookmarks, and extra programs that were registered to me only. Any suggestion about any further steps to take??? I'm thinking of getting my name out of the registry, but that is as far as I'm sure of. How do I do this, and are there any other appropriate suggestions from anyone to try to get me entirely removed before passing on? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks to all

Oops.........forgot to say the message is on this board because Windows 98 is running on the previously mentioned computer!

    Delete PWL files.
Empty Internet Explorer Auto Complete Forms and Passwords.
Delete Temporary IE files, cookies, history.

    Open Regedit and goto Edit\Find.
Type in your name and delete any that come up. Your name may show up in other programs aside from Windows. eg MS Office it you have it etc. You may need to to put a substitute name in, so use xxxx or whatever.
You may also need to repeat the process using different formats for your name eg Joe Bloggs; J Bloggs and so on.

Don't forget to back up your Registry first..
