Hi, About a month ago ( 9th Nov 2011) the was a thread about how to go into the registry and delete old messages stored in the Inbox.dbx etc files .(Search / Outlook Express / Folder ? remove files ) I have done that on all the XP setup PC's, but have tried the same instructions on a Vista PC with Windows Mail, no luck.
Can some one possibly guide me with in structions to handle this on Vista and Windows 7.
    Thanks Des.

You don't need to do anything in the registry. That is flirting with trouble.
OE is different than Windows mail. The only time that you really need to do this in OE is if you can't get into OE because the inbox is so full that it won't open OE. This is one good reason not to keep messages stored in the Inbox. If you want to save messages, make new folders and not inside the inbox, but in Local Folders.

Sorry about mistake in original post, it was nothing to do with the registry but was in
    C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{680286C3-2A65-4612-A8BA-0323194C2497}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

But would still like to find in Vista and 7.
Thanks for the reply Mr Bill. Cheers Des.

To find the store folder in Windows Live Mail, open Windows Live Mail and click on the message icon (the one with the drop-down arrow) at the upper left corner of the window.

In the menu that opens, point the cursor at Options and in the sub-menu that opens, click on Mail.

In the window that opens, click on the Advanced tab then under Maintenance and Troubleshooting, click on the Maintenance button.

In the window that opens, click on the Store Folder button. At last you have the path to where the messages are kept.

Finding that Store Folder in Windows Mail should be similar.
