Cleaning computer, to avoid overheating problems.

    Hi all,

I'm visually impaired, and would find opening a computer a little difficult. I understand that undusting your computers fans every so often is very important for dust build up.

The easiest way I can do this is to, take the main part of a vacuum cleaner off, put the cleaner up to full throddle, and then with the end of the hose, dab it around the holes, where the fans are. I do this every six months.

This will s u c k out most of the dust? Enough to avoid catastrophic overheating problems?

Or will I have to get someone to open the case and s u c k it inside?

Not a good idea to "inflow" as a vaccuum, better to use an outflow as in air compressor or canned compressed air. Yes, you should remove the case cover and blow out dust. A vaccuum can actually pull out parts and conections while compressed air will get dust and dirt out of tight spots.

If you don't open the case and use a vaccuum you are just sucking all of the inside dust through the fans and clogging them.
