Hi ... Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't their a post as to how to do it with ( Clean install ) windows 8.1 as well ? I have 8.1 install but I can't remember if it was a clean installment without 8.0 upgrade or I done the 8.0 upgraded install and then updated to 8.1 ... I thought I saw Arie posted as to how it can be done with just 8.1 , yes ?

Thanks for your respond and for that link but I try what it said to do and it didn't work . In fact I couldn't do from this part on > slmgr.vbr /upk and when I try placing my keys it said something about my keys were the default blah blah blah and wouldn't accept them or activate . Again, I'm pretty sure Arie had a post which explain as to how its done with 8.1 , or at least I believe he had .

Thanks again but from that link it say to >> 1. Use a Windows 8.1 product Key to Upgrade but doesn't provide any keys .

Yes, I know Arie post for 8.0 but I thought he also had one for 8.1 and using 8.0 upgrade keys clean install .

    Thanks

BTW I did do it once before but I can't remember how I done it .

Hi Smart86, Have you got an empty HD?
You want to install W8.1 onto that empty HD?

My experience was very straight forward - I purchased a W8 Pro Upgrade Box.
It contained 2 Discs and a Product key. One disc was 32bit and the other was 64bit.
I was quite surprised because I was able to install the 64bit onto an empty 250GB SATA HD without any problems. It activated and within 24hours it was installing 8.1 on auto WU. Everything is running sweet as.
I do believe that you will require W8 to be on the HD first - but I'll stand corrected if that is wrong. Neil.

Hi .. Thanks for your input and I have the same thing as you but I done Arie post as to how to do a clean install of windows 8.0 upgrade which afterwards I made an 8.1 iso and burn that unto a dvd disc which I'm able to use and install windows 8.1 pro but I'm having issues with the activation part , I'm not able to change the keys to my 8.0 pro keys and when I am able enter the keys it wouldn't accept them . I did the 8.1 only installment once already before but I forgot as to how I done it . I want to give it a go again . The first time I done it I was pretty sure it was from one of Arie's post

If you have the W8 Upgrade working OK, have you got ALL MS updates installed that were available BEFORE 8.1?
Once I was activated, I went to MS Updates and installed all the Updates. Then the next day - WU did the 8.1 on auto update.
Go to WU and see if you have any updates at all. Neil.

Yes, I was able to do all that to, but I thought Arie had were one can do a clean installment of 8.1 with a 8.1 iso which I have burned onto a dvd disc and use the 8.0 keys later on . I have done it already once before were I just installed 8.1 but again I forgot as to how I done it . Though, I do remember I did change one part under regedit . Doing it this way saves a lot of Microsoft updates

Thanks for that link , that did help some what . I figure out why my 8.1 disc wasn't working . I was placing the wrong set of keys when I went to install 8.1 . Now for my pro version I had to use these keys

    GCRJD-8NW9H-F2CDX-CCM8D-9D6T9

Now these keys above doesn't activate windows , it just let you install it were later on you have to change the keys with your own legit keys . After I done that I was able to activate windows 8.1 pro . So all good now , thanks everyone :)
